Wednesday

What a blessing it will be.

Today I am thinking of all the dishes I have to prepare for our first turkey dinner in our home with the Johnston family and my heart flutters a little with all the work I have yet to do for the big day.
Wait a minute. Those of you know me well, know that I am not doing the cooking. Josh has it covered, with his mom at his side I am sure everything will turn out fine.

I am in charge of setting the table, my sweet potato dish and well the blessing.

In a more serious note, when I think of the blessing on thanksgiving day I think of my dad. He does it well and he does it right.

"Thank you to those who are gather with us  today and  to all of those who have gather with us before and to all of those yet to gather. "

There is more of course, I mean it is my dad talking after all. But I hope I can make him proud by saying our family blessing tomorrow as we all gather around the table.

I am thankful for many things, but most of all I am thankful for my family, good health and of course La Crema Chardnay:)

Monday

It's Snowing

Just took these pictures from work.
Got to love a town that shuts down, stops work and gets VERY excited when it snows.
This town could not be more at sea level then what we are.
View from my office.
This dusting of snow might be hardly nothing to some, but for those of us who live on Fidalgo Island we slow down, cancel any school related activities and people like myself can't wait to go home and roll around in this beautiful white stuff.

On our way to lunch at the deli.

Unlike myself, City workers hard at work today.

Baby It is Cold Outside

What were we thinking?
There was ice on the swings at the playground.

Life Is Good Today

This is it.
We are moms.
 With our kids.
 Living in the moment.
With the men out of town, we made the most of it and stayed up until 2am and solved all the world problems.
Food, wine, friendship and face time.
Thank you Brookie Brooke to the moon and back for traveling north.
For being you and for drinking three bottles.
Below you will see a mix of photos from tonight.
Lucky for us we had our good friends Sally and Reese over for a sleep over. Don't worry their mom is Irish, they get it.
Cheers!

Prom 2027

We still got it.
Don't worry I did not rip my pants.

Thursday

Bitter Sweet Day

It was a cold brisk walk into my office this morning and I could feel it in the air. Winter is here and the snowing is falling in the mountains.

Tomorrow the beautiful Crystal Mountain opens up for their 2010/2011season.Tonight people across Western Washington are waxing their skis and getting ready to call in sick, (DAD)!

This gets me excited. Trust me a perfect day this time of year would be waking up early heading south with a non fat two equal latte in hand rocking out to some MGMT or Red Hot Chili Peppers making the left turn  onto the boulevard heading up to the hill.

Then I went to the Crystal Mountain website to check it all out. ( By the way the website has come a long way and looks amazing, very user friendly) then I click on this think: http://www.skicrystal.com/Tickets-and-Passes/Daily-Lift-Tickets

And my jaw hit my key board. Are you kidding me Crystal Mountain? Why is it so expensive?

Going to Crystal Mountain will be like going to the dentist for me. You only get to go twice a year.

In the big picture it is really too bad the sport of skiing is SO EXPENSIVE.  Being in the business of recreation myself, I am sad that the average family would not all be able to go skiing for a day with the cost of tickets, lunch, gas & lattes.

OK, so I will get off my soap box. Don't worry Crystal you will see me once maybe twice this winter if I am lucky. You got the best mountain, the best views and the best volunteer ski patroler I know ( DAD)!

I am just saying it is a little bitter sweet that I will pay that much to go.

Monday

Thank God for Sundays

Any given Sunday you can find this crew ( Jonn, Josh & Bob) working up a sweat in the ACFL.
If only the woods could talk.

So pretty

I am pretty sure this picture is coming back out when you bring your first girlfriend home little E.

Note to self...

Today as I picked Grace up from pre- school I heard her telling the class, " My mommy likes beer and she spilled it all over the garage this weekend".

Instantly I turn red as her teachers smile as me in the back of the room.

What happen was after a nice family dinner at the Rock fish and 3 apple cider beers later I thought it was a good idea to buy a growler full of this wonderful beverage that I like to call apple juice for adults.

Well apparently I cannot carry Emmit and a growler after having 3 cider beers, because I dropped the growler all over the garage, said some choice words and watched the glass shatter everywhere.

Clearly this left a lasting impression on Grace.

So note to self.
Be careful of what I say, do, drink or geez even eat in front of Grace.

I don't want Grace to start sharing with her class other things like my parents have the biggest collection of wine corks ( geez wonder why) or that I've seen my mother sitting in the shower naked reading In Style magazine while showering or that my mom knows every word to every Taylor Swift song and dances in the kitchen to choreographed routines.

OK so I might have over shared...
